Sony EricssonThe Xperia™ arc S and Xperia™  neo V both offer the world’s first 3D Sweep Panorama functionality powered by Sony. By panning the phone across the subject matter, the camera will take many pictures and recomputed them into a 3D picture.

The 3D panoramic image can then be viewed by connecting the Xperia™ smartphone to a 3D TV through the HDMI connector.

The added 3D imaging functionality is available on all 2011 Xperia™ smartphones through a software upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.4 rolled out in August. These include the Playstation-certified Xperia™ PLAY, the elegant Xperia™ ray and the dust-proof, water-resistant Xperia™ active.

Another Sony Ericsson-exclusive experience has been the Facebook inside Xperia™ v. 2 upgrade. The new version allows users to share and discover games and apps, like music from the FM radio and includes a “New from Friends” album in the user’s gallery. “A very important difference between Facebook inside Xperia™  and other implementations is that our version allows for sharing with your friends as well as discovering what they like. This makes it truly two-way social communication, another exclusive experience on an Xperia™ smartphone,” he said.

As the year draws to a close, the Xperia™ portfolio continues to expand. “We began the year with  the announcement of three new Xperia™ models and we will close 2011 with more than double that number in the market. To date more than 22 million Xperia™ smartphones have been shipped worldwide,” he said. As of Q3 2011, Sony Ericsson smartphone sales made up 80% of total sales, up from 70% in the previous quarter.

The Xperia™ arc SXperia™ neo VXperia™ PLAYXperia™ ray and Xperia™ active will be available nationwide  this holiday season.
