Participants must be:

  • College students (registered this semester in any undergraduate course in any school in the Philippines)
  • Individual entrants or a group with a maximum of four (4) members


  • Documentary must be of an INSPIRING THEME (an inspiring story on anyone or anything)
  • Documentary must be 10 to 15 minutes long
  • Entry must be submitted on DVD format along with the script
  • Participants must submit: 1) Resume and 2) Any proof of registration to a college or university for this semester
  • Participants must submit a signed Contest Participation Agreement (all members must sign if entering as a group).

China-ASEAN Art Tilt Now Accepts Entries

FILIPINO ARTISTS below 50 years old are invited to join the China-ASEAN Youth Artwork and Creativity Contest 2008 to be held in Nanning City, Guangxi City, China in October.

The competition is part of the activities of the annual China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning City.

Participants may submit not more than two entries in either oil painting or sculpture categories.

No size requirement is given to painting but sculptures should be within 120 cm X 120 cm.

1st UNFPA World Population Day Essay Writing Contest

 1st UNFPA World Population Day Essay Writing Contest

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is now announcing the conduct of its 1st World Population Day Writing Contest…

Along with the announcement, the UNFPA also bared its rules so to help the applicants informed and be knowledgeable of what would be the criteria as well as the procedure that should be followed.

Based on the guidelines and contest rules issued by the UNFPA, an applicant should be a resident of the Philippines, Filipino, 15-24 years of age and not a published writer or a professional journalist. The content of the essay must be original, have not been published in print or online, written in English language and should contain 1000 up to 1,500 words.

The said entries will be adjudged anonymously by a panel of judges authorized by the UNFPA with the following criteria: 50% for the substance and originality; and 50% for the writing style, composition, and organization.

In line with the celebration of the 2008 World Population Day, the write-up should focus on the theme: “Family Planning: It’s a Right, let’s Make it Real.”

The winner will be notified of the winning entry and will receive a cash prize of P5,000.00 and a Certificate of Recognition during the World Population Day Forum in Makati City on July 11, 2008. Those who came from the province will be given travel and accommodation expenses shouldered by the UNFPA.

ASEAN+3 Environmental Photography Competition: Capture Nature

 ASEAN+3 Environmental Photography Competition: Capture Nature

Capture Nature is an annual environmental digital photography competition initiated by a group of students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Started in 2007, the event allows the passion youths have for photography to be channelled towards environmental awareness, conservation and action. This year, the competition will be held in conjunction with the ASEAN+3 Youth Festival, a youth-for-youth initiative supported by the National Youth Council, Singapore.

The theme of this competition is “Global Warming”. Citizens or Permanent Residents from ASEAN + 3 countries who are aged between 18 and 25 are eligible to participate.

We would like to invite you and your ASEAN+3 friends to participate in this competition. The youths will have to submit softcopies of their photos, including a small description stating why they choose the photo, together with the entry forms from 15th Apr 2008 to 31st May 2008.

This environmental digital photography competition is initiated to allow youths to learn about environmental issues through experiential learning. The objectives of this competition are:

a. Promote better understanding about the current environmental situations of ASEAN+3 countries and in turn promote better understanding among the youth of ASEAN nations through photo taking,

b. Provide a catalyst to spark an interest in participating in environmental activities by exposing youth to the nature and

c. Educate youths on the impact of global warming.

The search is on for the next students and scholars of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

The learning institution, formally established in 2004, is an autonomous graduate school of the National University of Singapore, considered among the top 25 universities in the world based on surveys.

The school has inherited a rich legacy left by its predecessor Public Policy Programme set up in 1992 and developed in partnership with the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University .

Its student population boasts of international leaders from various fields, including government officials, military officers and even non-government organization personnel.

As its name implies, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy aims to provide opportunities for the education and training of the next generation of Asian policy-makers and leaders to raise the standards of governance throughout the region, and in the process improve the lives of the people and contribute to the transformation of Asia and the world.

The school offers three master degree programs in Public Policy, Public Administration and Public Management.

It also offers a wide range of customized executive programs and has trained over 1,000 public sector professionals since its establishment in 2004.

According to Stavros Yiannouka, vice dean for executive education and development, their institution is a vibrant place for the exchange of ideas with a diverse student population and faculty.

A majority of students are from China and India , and a number from other Asian countries like Indonesia , Pakistan , the Philippines , Bangladesh , Kazakhstan , Mongolia and Korea . There are also students from Africa and the United States .
