The Telecommunication & Information Technology Research Institute (TITR), a research strength at the University of Wollongong, conducts leading edge research in future communication technologies, multimedia processing and management, security and interactive learning technologies. The grants include all University and Department fees, full board at the University accommodation and provide an additional personal scholarship of 10.561,54

The department of Maths and Computer Science at the University of Antwerp, Belgium has an open position for a PhD student (full-time) in the PATS research group of Prof C. Blondia and B. Van Houdt.

In principle, it concerns a four year position (with an initial one year contract).

The topic of the open position is located within the area of scheduling algorithms and more specifically mainly concerns designing fast scheduling solutions for loading container vessels in the port of Antwerp.

In a partnership with the University of Queensland, Youngcare have provided funding for two PhD Scholarships in two areas:

• Social Innovation which examines the changing nature of not-for-profit organisations in Australia, with Youngcare being one of the organisations to be researched, undertaken in the UQ Business School; and
• Pathways and Choices for Young People with High Care Needs which examines the lived experiences of individuals and families as they make decisions about the transition from home to residential care with the aim of informing future service development to be undertaken in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Bloomsbury Colleges are a consortium of six University of London colleges comprising Birkbeck (BBK), Institute of Education (IoE), London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Royal Veterinary College (RVC), School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and The School of Pharmacy (SoP).

The Consortium is offering twelve PhD Studentships, each of three years duration, to start October 2008. The Studentships will cover course fees (at the usual level for UK and EU studentships) and a student stipend. They will encompass a wide range of topics spanning the biomedical and social sciences, reflecting the diversity of disciplines represented in the consortium. The Studentships will be supervised by two of the partner colleges with the lead college indicated after each Studentship.
