2009 UNEP Eco-Peace Leadership Program Now Accepting Applicants

The 3rd Eco-Peace Leadership Program, which is a year long education & training program through the on/off line learning process, is now accepting applications.

Eco-Peace Leadership Center, in its deep interest in capacity building and technology transfer of GO and CSO in Asian Pacific countries and the intention of enhancing international cooperation in the field of the environment. We support CSOs/GOs in finding the solution for Environmental problems that they faced in their own country through the programme.

[Italy] PhD Grants – University of Padova

The University of Padova, Italy, sponsored by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, will offer 15 fully funded grants for foreign (non-Italian) graduate students starting doctoral courses in January 2009. [Belgium] PhD Positions in Scheduling Algorithms – University of Antwerp

The department of Maths and Computer Science at the University of Antwerp, Belgium has an open position for a PhD student (full-time) in the PATS research group of Prof C. Blondia and B. Van Houdt.

In principle, it concerns a four year position (with an initial one year contract).

The topic of the open position is located within the area of scheduling algorithms and more specifically mainly concerns designing fast scheduling solutions for loading container vessels in the port of Antwerp.

[Australia] The Sylvia Bligh Memorial PhD Scholarship – The University of Queensland

The scholarship is open to applicants who are or intend to: enrol full-time in the PhD program & conduct research into treatment-resistant depression.

The value of the scholarship is $25,000 per year indexed annually & a school support grant of up to $5,000 per year. Your application should consist of: 1. A detailed description of the proposed project, addressing specifically how you will meet the eligibility requirements; 2. Certified copies of academic transcripts for studies undertaken at universities other than UQ; 3. An academic CV, including publications; 4. Letters of recommendation from at least two academic referees. You may use the Research Higher Degrees Referee Report Form which can be accessed from website. [Australia] Human Rights Scholarship (HRS) at University of Melbourne

[Austria] Youngcare PhD Scholarships – The University of Queensland

Scholarship Description
In a partnership with the University of Queensland, Youngcare have provided funding for two PhD Scholarships in two areas:

  • Social Innovation which examines the changing nature of not-for-profit organisations in Australia, with Youngcare being one of the organisations to be researched, undertaken in the UQ Business School; and
  • Pathways and Choices for Young People with High Care Needs which examines the lived experiences of individuals and families as they make decisions about the transition from home to residential care with the aim of informing future service development to be undertaken in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
